Would you like a bit more – and a bit more pleasure?

The place where the most successful biathlete of all time sets up home must be a good location for biathletes and cross-country skiers. We’re talking about the Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjorndalen, who moved to Obertilliach in East Tyrol. Because he knows where to find the ideal conditions for his Nordic passion. The biathlon centre in Obertilliach is one of the international hotspots on the cross-country skiing scene. From mid-November – or sometimes even earlier – the 60 km of cross-country ski trails are covered in snow and ready for action – both for novices and hobby cross-country skiers, skaters and traditional skiers, skiers with more experience and professional athletes.

A first-class network of cross-country ski trails with around 400 km of trails makes its way through East Tyrol. Both experts and beginners can find their perfect training territory here. All around you are the mountains of East Tyrol. Because East Tyrol is the mountain Tyrol. Yet East Tyrol also stands for hospitality & authenticity, cuisine & tradition. You’ll also experience this during the annual Dolomites Run, the largest cross-country skiing event in Austria. Every year, 2,500 participants follow the battle cry: “Everyone is a winner over themselves”.

Yet that’s by no means everything! Because with its network of cross-country ski trails, East Tyrol is part of Europe’s largest cross-country skiing region - the Dolomiti Nordic Ski, 1,300 kilometres of cross-country ski trails in the heart of the Dolomites. A winter holiday in East Tyrol is simply a bit more …
