The Ausseerland - Salzkammergut cross-country ski region comprises of the six holiday destinations Altausee, Bad Aussee, Bad Mitterndorf, Grundlsee, Pichl-Kainisch and Tauplitz. The villages are perfect for a winter holiday in the Alps. Cross-country ski tracks for classic skiers and skaters are groomed here in winter across vast, level meadows and through the slightly hilly terrain uphill to the snow-reliable mountains. Leisure skiers enjoy the scenery of the snow-covered Dachstein Massif and the bizarre Totes Gebirge as well as local specialities at the inns and quaint huts directly at the cross-country ski route, while skilled cross-country skiers compete on the diverse tracks.
